Lawrence J. Mello, Jr., a U.S. Navy veteran and dedicated library professional, has built a career rooted in service and scholarship. With degrees in History from Florida Atlantic University and Library Science from the University of Maryland, he has committed himself to making government information accessible and useful. Since 2022, Lawrence has led the redesign of the Government Information and Maps webpage at FAU Libraries, creating digital tools and Research Guides that have been viewed by thousands of users both on and off campus.In his role, he supports faculty and students in history and social sciences by integrating government documents into their research and instruction. His work extends into the community, where he helps run programs like “Know Before You Vote,” educating voters, and promotes key resources such as the Shoah Visual History Archive. Reliable and steady, Lawrence is a trusted resource bridging academic inquiry and public engagement.Outside of his professional life, Lawrence enjoys time with his family, writing, and has a particular interest in American history, especially the Revolutionary War era. Known for his commitment to the profession and active participation in community outreach, he is respected by colleagues for his mentorship and dedication.
